Multi-mode fibre optic cable with ST to ST connectors, grey low smoke zero halogen jacket and 62.5µm (micrometres) fibre core with 125µm cladding. It can support 10 gigabit ethernet at lengths of up to 33 meters. It is most commonly used for 100 megabit ethernet applications. This type commonly uses a LED light source.
Fibre optic cables use glass threads (fibres) to transmit data. These fibres transmit the data by using modulated light waves. Fibre cables are popular because they have a much greater bandwidth than the standard copper networking cables.
